Business Profile

Driveway Installation Services When it comes time to either replace your driveway or in case its a new build, getting a new driveway installed, you will want to find a contractor who can do that work for you professionally, to a high standard and hopefully at an affordable price.

WHEN DO YOU NEED A DRIVEWAY SERVICE?
Generally, when you are going to be either replacing or getting a new driveway installed you will want to find a driveway contractor for that work. It requires experience and the right machinery to handle a decently sized driveway.

They will need to have the equipment to excavate your driveway, removing all the waste and to ensure the proper excavation levels are done.

This entails getting a new base foundation installed on your driveway. This is important since similarly to building a wall, you want to know that the new driveway will not be shifting or sinking in parts.

Proper excavation is required for this and recommended depth can be upto 10 inches to ensure a proper base can be inserted. Two types of base stone are used for this. Firstly a crushed stone at the lowest level which allows water penetration and can withstand heavy vehicles. Secondly, a finer stone dust to fill up the top layer gaps which can be then compressed into the crushed stone finish.

Drainage will need to be inserted into your driveway as well if you have problems with getting that surface water off the driveway. Of course, if you are getting a permeable driveway, the water will drain down but on an asphalt or paved surface, the water will have to be directed off the driveway to a soak away point.

The way a new driveway is installed can greatly vary depending on the type of surface you are looking to get laid on your driveway. For interlock pavers, you will get them laid on top of a fine sand base which first is leveled generally using electrical conduit bars for leveling. They are then laid on that in whichever pattern you choose or suits that type of paving.

Asphalt is laid straight on top of the base of the driveway to a recommended depth of 4 inches for single coats or 2 layers at a base coat with 2.5 inches and a topping course at 1.5 inches.

Concrete will be laid in sections with expansion joints since concrete as it hardens will expand slightly. Spacer joints gives the concrete room to expand ensuring no cracks will occur on the concrete. The finished concrete surface can be tamped, floated or brush finished depending on the style you would like for your concrete driveway.

Tar and chip driveways can be laid on top of concrete, an asphalt driveway or on top of a base foundation. The hot liquid bitumen is applied over the surface to about 1 inches thick with a chip finish dumped on top of it. This is leveled off and machine rolled into the hot bitumen to lock it in place. There are a variety of colour choices available for your tar and chip finish.
